It looks like Azure and the new Frost tower were shrunk down to make Bleu Ciel look more dominant. Look how small the Frost Tower looks. In that rendering you'd think it was a 12 story building.

Actually the Bleu Ciel will be on higher ground it's like a hill and when driving in from Stemmons Frwy it will stand out more like a 40-story tower.

This is the second rendering with a "Cloud Gate" sculpture. Perhaps Harwood is serious about this art piece.

I agree. It's a very nice looking tower, especially from the angle in the rendering.

Dallas may not be getting as many taller buildings as a number of other cities right now, but the ones it is getting are quite elegant.

Oak Farms Dairy sold, to be redeveloped into large mixed-use site

http://www.bizjournals.com/dallas/ne...nto-large.html

Quote:
The property -- which is near Interstate 35E and Colorado Boulevard -- is zoned for more than 1,000 housing units and more than 600,000 square feet of commercial space that could be as tall as 20 stories. The investment group say the mixed-use plan could include hotel, office, residential, retail and entertainment uses.

There's already heavy equipment on site and some clearing looking to be taking place where Uptown Plaza will be going up.

Did I read that the land between the Bleu Ciel and Frost Tower will be open park/public space?

Two exceptionally striking photos from Justin Terveen.
You all should look into his work...what a talented photographer.

Groundbreaking Ceremony: Routh Street Flats

Quote:
First off, expect to see smaller units. These smaller units, however, will allow for higher-quality finishes and other luxury features while maintaining a lower price point. Also planned is underground parking to avoid the not-so-lovely view of a parking garage. They will also bury the power lines to keep up with the aesthetically pleasing theme. What I might be most excited about, however, is the rooftop terrace, which will feature stunning views of Uptown and Turtle Creek.
This project is one block away from 2728 Cedar Springs, the 299-unit 18-story apartment project by JLB.

A stationary crane is up and excavation for underground parking has now dug a very large hole in the ground.

Developer Harwood International working on Design District apartment tower

Steve Brown

2:30 pm on May 29, 2014

Quote:
The project is planned for a former showroom complex site near the intersection of Oak Lawn Avenue and Market Center Boulevard. After preparing to start the project, Harwood put the deal on hold and last December CEO Gabriel Barbier-Mueller told me they were going back to the drawing boards to come up with “a taller project with more retail and restaurant.”

The result is now an apartment tower in the works.

“We are designing a 15-story building and have four restaurants signed,” Barbier-Mueller recently told the monthly publication Paper City. “It will be about 300 apartments and a ground floor town center for that area.”

Harwood International is also pondering a hotel addition to its signature Harwood development in Uptown.

$85M redevelopment near Dallas City Hall ‘ready to go’

Candace Carlisle
Staff Writer-
Dallas Business Journal
Apr 18, 2014, 2:36pm CDT UPDATED: Apr 21, 2014, 4:25pm CDT

Quote:
The long-awaited construction on the $85 million redevelopment of the historic building at 500 S. Ervay St., a 103-year-old building adjacent to Dallas City Hall, is nearly ready to get underway.
"By next week, the building will be 100 percent abated," developer Mike Sarimsakci told the Dallas Business Journal."We have all the construction approvals from the city and they are ready to be picked up when I get back to Dallas next week."

In October 2012, the redevelopment was expected to cost $55 million and the hotel flags changed from a Hilton-branded hotel to a Marriott-branded property. Within weeks, the developer held a "groundbreaking ceremony," to mark the beginning of the abatement process to ready the property for construction.

Construction on the redevelopment project is scheduled to begin in mid-May.
The Butler Bros. building will be renovated to its original state (left.)

Construction starts on City Lights project east of downtown Dallas

Steve Brown

But the new owner of the property on the eastern edge of downtown hasn’t wasted any time with the project.

Apartment developer Greystar recently bought the 4-acre vacant tract at Live Oak Street and Good-Latimer Expressway. And Greystone has already broken ground on the site.

The South Carolina-based apartment investor, developer and manager is building a 424-unit, luxury apartment community called Elan City Lights.

The first units in the development will be ready late next year.

Thanks for the updates Sic'EmBears. Those skyline shots are simply amazing! Uptown is becoming quite dense.

Also a few updates from the Dallas urban forum site.

A construction trailer has arrived at 2121 Flora site as of yesterday. This will be directly behind Museum Tower.

Uptown Plaza a new 20+ story residential tower will begin construction very soon.

Of course! I can't wait for 2121 Flora to begin. It's by far the most cutting-edge design of all the projects in the area.
