Hey, I was there too. I might have been standing next to you and not known it.

Fun! Happy to watch it go and excited for what's to come. I hear they look to break ground in May--hope they can stick to that schedule.

Managed to get this in decent quality from Colorado Tower -- dust cloud keeps throwing off my focus, but the implosion looks good!

I was the first spectator at that intersection at about 7:15 AM. I worked an all-nighter and walked about 5 blocks from my office. I think I was behind you on the other side of the street in front of the Bremond House. There must have been maybe 200 people around by the time of implosion.

New elevations dated 03/13 are out today for AULCC. The height appears to have been slightly lowered, but not to the 481' implied by recent FAA filings. The elvations on page 56 and 57 show it as 542'.

Looking at page 56-57 I saw the top elevation of 643ft, so will the architectural height of the building actually be 643ft?

That's the elevation from sea level I think

The dimension line on the very right says 491' from ground level to roof, plus another 51' to top of the parapet.

Just looked it over again and you’re right, thanks for clarifying!

542 is not bad, still will be the tallest office tower we have.

The demo of Ashbel Smith Hall has opened up some new views of downtown at least for the time being.

It's always nice to have a new vantage point!

Btw does anyone know if construction is immediate after they clear out the site?

That's the plan as far as I can tell. But the site plan hasn't been approved yet. This project is on next week's Planning Commission meeting agenda. They need an exemption for something related to commercial vehicle, trash truck access to the dock or something boring that I lost interest in reading about any further...zzzzzz

These are the closest video clips I've seen of the Ashbel Smith demo.

A clarification about the building height. The plan uses reference elevations, with 101'-0" or so as the street. The drawings show that the roof height will be 541', if I added it up correctly.

Yes, it starts at 101', but the highest point is 643'. Hence the 542' height.
