There doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house. Having never been to a soccer game, to anyone who has, where would the best seats be? High or low, middle or end. I would kind of want to be nearer to the goals where the play can get really intense and higher up.

That all depends on what you prioritize. A good view of the game? The most shade? Proximity to the supporters section or the beer hall?

oof. that would be less than ideal, though I don't think those are regular seats either. I can't find any info on the West Terrace Porch to see how people gain access to that area. Maybe it's a big rental space like the pool area at Dell Diamond?

there is a regular seat with pretty poor sightlines and obstructed views at Section 127, Row 18, Seat 32.

That porch area just looks like future luxury suites, or whatever that is to the right. It's not centered, so it looks like they'll just extend it.

That's a bummer. I mean it's not like you are the top of Reliant Stadium and it looks like they have plenty of shade.

Sort of Austin FC related but Leslie Pool's November opponent is having an online launch party for her campaign tonight. Come help us send Pool back to Columbus.

Be careful. Even though Pool is unbelievably horrible. The devil you have may be better than the one you don't.

Morgan is also a "progressive." Her ideals and platform is not that much different from Pool's.

She seems completely great to me. Like my signature says, she's an urbanist and a yimby.

I think they're extremely different. The "issues" on their respective campaign websites are nearly diametrically opposed.

I mean if you were to ask them about North Korea policy they might say something similar. But locally they fit pretty neatly into urbanist vs. neighborhood preservationist.

Pool is a pretty typical aging hippie sort of progressive - she's a progressive in her own head and on international/national-level big picture stuff but when it comes to ground-level politics she's basically dead center or center-right. "Protect" and "preserve" are her major themes. I mean Pool's whole reason for being is to avoid as many big changes as possible to her comfortable central Austin existence.

Morgan appears to be coming from a younger, more justice-minded version of progressivism. Equity is a major theme for her. Her being bilingual is pretty cool considering Pool has been perfectly comfortable completely ignoring anyone from the northern end of D7 outside of the Gracywoods Neighborhood Association.

I would expect Morgan to operate much more like a Casar than a Pool.

I actually believe pretty strongly that Morgan's candidacy forced Pool to take a much stronger stance on the police funding issue than she would have otherwise. I can't think of a single non-development vote or position Pool has taken that would not have been taken by any other generically "progressive" CM. It does not appear that Morgan would stay similarly anonymous when it comes to advancing a "progressive" agenda.

As for making this relevant to the stadium, both are in favor of Project Connect, which is really all that matters now in determining the fate of the McKalla Red Line station. For what it's worth, despite Pool's vigorous opposition to the stadium, she does appear to be happy about having a new train station there.

These are good summaries of major Austin power centers.

Obviously every corner of Austin is changing rapidly, but just looking at the makeup of D7 -- there's an amazing amount of development happening under its umbrella. Everything around the Domain/Broadmoor/McKalla as well as everything out on east Parmer Lane. I don't know much about Pool but from your description I'd bet she's lived in Allandale since forever. Those would seem to have some pretty divergent priorities. Even more interesting that Morgan is coming at this Olde Austin/New Corporate Austin dichotomy from an East Austin social justice angle. Times are (pretty wildly) changing.

I don't remember seeing this here. Found this when seeing footage of the training center construction.
