Just a heads up folks:

I'm coming home in 7 days. I've got my Olympus D-SLR and a jones to take some pictures. You will see the ultimate San Antonio photo thread before the end of the holiday season! (maybe Austin, too, if my girlfriend will let me!) You have all been warned!

I'll try to get to Northwood and a lot of the other unseen stuff. Plus I'll be in Austin for three days attending my girlfriend's sister's wedding, so I'll see what I can manage from that area. (Don't know where yet.) I did a New York thread a while back, but my Butte and Bozeman threads have long since been pruned. Here's hoping I can get to as many areas.

I'm kinda prejudice about Northwood since I grew up there. There are very few neighborhoods in San Antonio where the Elementary school is the heart of the neighborhood. Try to get some pics on Pike Rd. It's a pretty incredible mix of homes from the original 1920's farm houses to huge 80's mansions and everything in between. Rockhill is neat too, it's like being on a country road especially between nacogdoches and vandiver. Also try to get to sunset ridge shopping center at nacogdoches and brees. That's where alot of 09 hangs out. The orginal ez's is there, and sunset ridge home and hardware. It's really unique with the mix of botiques and national tenants.

Cool--I know the area well! I grew up in the Sunset Ridge Apartments on Vanderheck before we moved to a little house on Irvington between Kentworh and Chevy Chase, south of Eisenhauer. Went to pre-school on Sunset. We moved to the (far) northwest side in 1984-- 1604 and Babcock, when 1604 was still a two lane highway, with stop signs and no overpasses.

If you could, take pictures of Southtown and the SoFlo district.

From downtown [drive, walk, bike, jog] down South Alamo until you hit the Blue Star complex. Along the way you'll be snapping pictures left and right. Fantastic area.

Then head west on Frio St until you hit South Flores. On there go left or right and snap the pictures of the new lofts being built as well as all the new warehouse conversions.
