No there are plans for a streetcar to connect the Exchange District with the rest of downtown.

Problem is that the plans are 15 years old.

But Winnipeg is a step closer to reintroducing streetcars again... A group of people have had the vision to build a replica of #596 which was involved in the 1919 General Strike.

you should take riverman up on his offer seeing the city from the river is quite diffrent and if u and ur wife if u move here want a quiet river padle the sain river is a gem to take a canoe down and just relax

think its like 5 bucks could be wrong they have 3 boats ones a night club

I suppose Moose Jaw (aka nowheresville) is so great in comparison? I heard someone who is formerly from Moose Jaw say that the best memory he has from Moose Jaw is seeing it get smaller and smaller in the rearview mirror

I'm late to this discussion, but...as far as walkability goes, there's just no beating Osborne Village. Here are some additional photos:

note about Osborne Village:

its cool but there are lots of losers and trash around there too.

quite frankly your best bet is anywhere between Hugo and Wilton off of Corydon.

Crescentwood, especially with your finances.

It rarley gets as cold as -40, and if it does then that's with the windchill. It's a windy city like Chicago, maybe not as bad. For $1800/month you can live like a king in Winnipeg. Housing is relativley cheap, some of the lowest in western Canada. It's a small city, so your not going to nearly have the culture and atmosphere you have in New York.
