A long article about how doha will become the best city in the world, blah blah, but mentions this tower

The tower will soar approximately 105 storeys into the sky and offer panoramic city views and over the blue water from its prestigious central location on the Corniche. It will be home to a hotel with 300 guest rooms, 80 serviced apartments, and 300 residential apartments.
The Convention Centre, adjacent to the tower, will provide 100,000 sq m of convention space and is destined to become an important regional and international exhibition location.

Looks nice, but they better build some higher buildings around it to compliment it because it's going to look awful lonely with those short towers there.

Kind of reminds me of the Grollo Tower and the old Burj Dubai and the Russia Tower combined

Looks like the same tower has had 4 incarnations:

Grollo Tower

Burj Dubai

Russia Tower

Now this:

Kooky!

The Grollo and Russia towers, at least, have the same tripod shape.

Because it seems that it never gets build. Grollo never got built, Burj changed the design, and I'm not sure what happened with the Russia Tower. I actually like it, but it always seems to be placed all alone, so it looks out of place. I think it needs to be built with some taller buildings that compliment this design in the same area in order for it to look nicer.

It used to be 550 m, but according to the skyscraperpage diagrams, the height is now 570 m, and the floor count is 108.

Last night I talked with someone who is working on this project. He informed me that they are still tweaking the final design, and the exact height is not official yet. He said the floor count has been floating between 104 and 111. The good news is that they have started excavation, and there could be an even taller project for Doha in the near future.
