The top floor of the first office building in the North Austin State Government Complex expansion project is U/C.

It's definitely a high rise, but other than the 158 foot height that came from the Towers article, I haven't seen the site plan with the elevations. And with Austin's habit of not including mechanical penthouses in official heights, I'm wondering if it might be a little taller than that height.

That is some nice height for the area. Is that the only planned tower for that part of town?

I can't seem to find it, but Phase 2 includes a smaller building (300k sq ft) and an additional parking garage. I think they are supposed to go where the huge parking lots are at Lamar and 51st. I didn't follow the lege to know if they approved funding for that.

I wonder what the deal is with the angled column? Is it so those corner windows have an un-blocked corner view? Interesting design decision...

I think it mostly has to do with opening up the corner on the ground floor.

A permit for three tower cranes for the 1601 and 1801 Congress projects was filed. This is the licensing permit, so no installation dates are listed.

Two cranes bases are up at 1801 Congress. Vertical construction is finally underway as well.

A third webcam was added for the Capitol Complex. There are now three deep pits in the area.

The third crane at the North Austin Complex finally went up - just as the first two cranes are close to coming down.

The two tower cranes appear to be going up this weekend. The latest webcam view shows the crawler crane being assembled and tower crane pieces being delivered.

Crane nerd alert...I noticed that the view from the new Texas Mall webcam shows the three cranes up at the North Austin Complex.

Wow. That building is sticking up pretty nicely there, too.

I wonder what happened here? I checked the cam on Sunday and didn't see the crawler nor were either of the two cranes erected. At first I thought the cam must have locked up and was stuck on a past point in time, but then I checked out the site on my way to and from work Monday and nada. No crane pieces, no crawler, no erected cranes. Anyone have any idea what could have happened? Maybe they brought the wrong crane segments? That would be a serious faux pas.

Looks like the crane sections are for the Texas Retirement System expansion. You can see the crane being assembled on the webxam.

I was wondering that too. The crane was assembled on Friday and left fully erect Friday night; then disassembled and trucked off on Saturday. The crane pieces were moved out of view to the right of the webcam. So the pieces may be for 1836 San Jacinto like Jon said.
