Long term but not really on the books beyond the concept, otherwise correct. The one question that is in the air is what lines will make up the 201 and 202 in the long run. Hopefully we'll find out some details on what happens with those once the S.A.S. study is done hopefully this year.

That was at one of the XRT open houses late last year, I don't think a specific month was even mentioned, just that it was due to be completed this year.

^^^ Yeah, that's a fairly half-baked design as transit-adjacent carparks go.

If you were, on the other hand, to knock out a total of 68 stalls over the first two levels fronting the go-zone landscaped area fronting 17 Avenue and 69 Street SW and replace the space with commercial-retail unit bays, you could still reasonably assume a base construction cost of (984 base stalls x $50K/stall = ) $49.2-million, but...

...at annual amortisation of $3.15-million (30 years, 5% interest), for just the 984 stalls, you have to bring in a mean of $8.76 in P+R charges every stall, every day, whereas at 916 stalls plus CRUs, you're looking at a 7.5% premium on the daily take per stall (to wit, $9.42) that you can offset at the three-buck-a-P+R level with CRU lease revenues of just shy of $11.75 a square foot per annum. Better yet, a CRU lease rate of $14.49 a square foot allows you to project P+R revenues at a rock-bottom $1.49 per stall per day.

Earthwork on Shag Golf Course continues. They have removed all the trees along Bow Trail and have started moving the dirt along that section as well.

I must say, the West LRT site is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better maintained then the Ciyt of Calgary website. The WLRT site is always getting updated, and is easy to find new information. The City of Calgary website is the exact opposite - never gets updated, information is all old, and it can be rediculousy hard to find new information. Heck, if I want to find information on LRT extentions, you have to look in three different places for XRT, NE extention, and the West LRT.

Plus, often it's years before the City website is cleaned up of old projects. The McKnight twinning project (52nd street to 68th Street) still shows up in the current projects section, and it's been done for probobly 4 years now. between it starting a couple of years after it was originally supposed to, I bet that same project has been in the same place on the website for 8 years, for work that was mostly done in one.

westlrt.ca is certainly a breath of fresh air.

^ Remember, the bidder for the project can always change the design to include retail if they want to, and think they can make money on it.

Forcing too much retail in could lead to empty stalls, like there are in the west end of downtown in the base of the condos.

There is going to be a retail/office building immediately to the other side of the high school as part of the Ambrose University College complex. I'm not sure there would be enough demand for retail in the parkade as well.

WestLRT just sent out an email update, detailing a few of the community lead changes that have been made including the change with the pedestrian bridge at 26th. Instead they've asked (and the city agreed) to instead improve the bridge at 24th Street. There was also a push for more parking, which added 100 more stalls to the 69th Street parkade

The ped. bridge at 24th Street is awful. I won't cry when it is torn down. The path is too narrow and overgrown at the both ends creating a 'dark tunnel' effect. The bridge is poorly connected to the pathway system, particularly on the south side.

That would work well. A pathway running on the west side of the ravine would be a plus.

Had an interesting sidebar discussion a couple of days ago with one of the transit managers at the Northern Hills open house. Turns out that they're looking seriously into revising the Route 17 once Sunalta Station comes into revenue service. Everything west of Sunalta will become obsolete for Route 17 once the 202 West comes online, of course, and naturally the next stop east of Sunalta Station on the 202 West is the Downtown West End, so they're giving a lot of consideration to moving the route from its current Sunalta-14 Street-downtown alignment to one that would run down 11 and 12 Avenues SW all the way to the East Fourth underpass before tootling through East Village and back to Centre Street.

Good to see they aren't just going to cut all the trees down that are in the way.
