Looks like the alignment is changing on 22X this week to the final alignment, or is it a quasi final alignment. The section from 6th west is final, while the part over Macleod gets east/west moved over on the south bridge, though all ramps are complete.

You can always go for a de-stressing drive on the weekends and bring us more photos.

Looks like we're about to see and experience a major change concerning the west leg in the Highway 1 area.

Traffic Shifts to New Ramps and Bridge Opens

November 20, 2020

In the coming days, the first new bridge on the project will open and traffic will shift to three new exit ramps, marking another major milestone and bringing the West Calgary Ring Road one step closer to completion.

Each of the three new exits will require motorists to exit sooner than they are accustomed to. There may be some slowdowns while drivers adapt to the new traffic patterns. Please watch for reduced speeds and changes to signage in the area. We appreciate your patience and safe driving during this time.

If one hasn't been in the areas where the major changes are regularly taking place then you can easily find yourself going down a route you weren't expecting to - twice I've been caught off guard by signage coming in from the west on highway 8 and once coming out of Valley Ridge and hoping to go east bound on the TransCanada. The signs get moved and/or you just miss one sign and all of a sudden you're going somewhere you didn't intend to.

I’m surprised that it’ll be concurrent/multiplex with TCH for a bit though. Isn’t that gonna put a lot of strain on TCH?

I'm not sure I get what you're referring to...it looks like new entrance and exit ramps, not a new mainline.

Ah my bad, not TCH, but Highway 8. Never mind, I don’t think there’s a problem then.

That 5 km section of the TCH the province is rebuilding and expanding has been needed for ages. With the tie-ins to 201 being so important in that area they pretty well had to do the work. A lot of people who make trips to the mountains should be a lot happier when this is all done. People who live in the deep south of Calgary will be able to save a ton of time getting out of the city on their way to places such as Banff.
