Los Angeles Thread Like No Other

Right next door is Mount Saint Mary's University
Mount Saint Mary's is part of what use to be the old Chester Place, which
is one of LA's first gated communities. At the turn of the century LA's muti-millionaires
moved into their estates including oil tycoon Edward L. Doheny.

Really terrific thread. I enjoy LA more and more with each visit. Last time we went straight from the airport to the Getty because we had time to kill before our host got off of work and I remember looking down at the campus of Mount Saint Mary's and being blown away by its beauty. Can't wait to go back.

Spectacular thread PW.
LA has so much variety, I think more so than almost anywhere. You can find virtually any style of architecture and landscaping in the city.

I never get tired of looking at photos of LA, and I live here. There is just so much to see in this huge city, a person could never get bored if they are adventurous.

Incredible photos, thank you for posting.

My nana went to college at Mount Saint Mary’s in the 1930s or 40s. I don’t recall ever seeing seeing the campus, so thank you for posting. I also enjoyed the photos of the Getty museum. I need to visit that museum the next time we are in LA.

All of the photos were stunning. I think that after the winter rains, LA is one of the most scenic cities in the country. Not to get into a city vs. city debate, but I grew up in Orange County but I used to think the Bay Area and San Francisco was better but over the past ten to fifteen years, I think LA has become the better city.

Beautiful photos as always. I was down there for a weekend back in mid-December. I think there were some fires north of town or something, because the air was pretty bad. We stayed down in San Pedro and got to explore a little bit, first time down in that area about from Long Beach.

There are two Mt. Saint Mary's campuses- one right by the Getty, and one right by USC/downtown. The one pictured in this thread is the campus by USC, which is small but very pretty.

Great pics, OP!

I agree 100%. I used to not be able to wait for summer, but as I've aged, I really enjoy the winter season because of the winter storms that plow through, dumping snow in the mountains, the greening of the hills and the clearing of the air.

Don't get me wrong I still love summer because of the endless activities.

Pwright, awesome photos!

I've got family up that way and got a picture about two years ago:

But I'd, too, love to see this view with a good camera.

Looks fantastic, especially this time of year in Chicago when spring still feels so far away. Thanks for sharing these!
