Out of curiosity, where will Hydro fall in terms of its hight in comparison to other downtown buildings? I couldn't find this info anywhere on Emporis.

I'd imagine Hydro would be the 5th or 6th tallest building in the city after the big towers at Portage & Main and 55 Nassau.

Am I right or wrong on this?

I'm assuming only the 4 towers at P&M are taller?

I'm surprised that Hydro will be taller than Ft.Garry place. Bergen's building seems taller to me for whatever reason.

Yes hopefully we can all live to see the day that Winnipeg gets a new tallest.

I'm looking at you GWL you cheap bastards.

Idealistically 50 stories, probably 40..

Truthfully i'll take anything taller than 2 stories that faces the street and fills a parking lot downtown.

With the top of the Solar Chimney, it will be just shy in height comparison to the Commodity Exchange tower..... Hence 4th tallest.

So, what floor are they currently working on now?

I lost count. It's sure looking good!

Totally creates a different look to our downtown......

Just finishing 20, 2 more office floors, 2 floors of mechanical, some kind of fancy roof overhang and the solar chimney continues upward for 5 to 10 more metres.

i was finally forced to get a new camera for school.. so in between classes on my SEVEN hour spare, i pushed the homework aside and headed downtown to catch up with the hydro building progress from a few angles..

from the forks..

p&m shot with the cranes off to the side..

@ portage & edmonton..

the graham side..

carlton st..

and lastly, from king..

she is gonna be a stumpy one as she approaches her last floors, but she adds a good little burst of density to some angles now =)

Great pics Jeff, just remember guys that the solar chimney should end up right about where the boom of the taller crane is. (2 more office floors, 2 more mech and the chimney)

Nice picts Jeff! The mix of old and new is what makes this town great. You'll never find shots like those in the Edmonton or Calgary threads.
