I don't understand. There is no replica. There's 42 "real deals", one for every year since 1977 when they changed from the Walter Brown trophy which acted more like the Stanley Cup and was loaned to each team until next year.

The trophy that was on the court when the Raptors won last June is the one that they get to keep, and it's different from the one that will be hoisted by whoever wins this year.

So on top of the NBA suspending all games the Raptors and traveling support staff are all in quarantine now.

source: https://ca.nba.com/

The Toronto Raptors played the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City on Monday night, and as is usual during an NBA game, the players were in close physical contact. On Wednesday evening, testing revealed that a Jazz player tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

Out of an abundance of caution, members of the Raptors traveling party have been tested for the virus. We await those results. Our players, coaches and traveling staff have all been advised to go into self-isolation for 14 days, which means minimizing contact in accordance with public health guidelines. Our team doctors remain in communication with infection control specialists and public health authorities, and we will continue to abide by their advice.

NBL Canada officially cancels remainder of the season (not surprisingly), and doubts rise of the continued operation of the league.

They're being criminally overlooked by the US media. Everyday my Youtube feed is full of hoops journos obsessing over the Lakers, but the Raps barely get any attention. Oh well, that just hardens the chip on their shoulders and motivates them all the more, right?

They look great. Their defense is freakin' demoralizing, and if you needed any quantitative proof of that, here it is:

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...tle-contenders

That, my friends, is how you win a championship in the age of the 3-pointer.

I'm loving the comparisons to the 2004 title-wining Pistons, but I'd go so far as to say that the Raps are even better because of the emergence of Pascal and the soon-to-be emergence of OG. Everyone's talking about how two great wings wins championships, that Kawhi and Paul George have got the recipe down, but Pascal and OG are knocking on the door in that conversation.

My only quibbles are the let-ups in offensive consistency. They let the Heat and the Magic make things closer in what should have been blowouts. If anything could hurt them, this will. Still, I'm totally on board for Raptors championship 2.0. My prediction? Raps over Clippers in 6 games. Kawhi's comeuppance and karmic payback will be sweet.

You heard it here first.

What happened to all the Raps/NBA fans here?

How about Luka Doncic? Christ, this guy is the real deal. I'm enjoying the Clippers-Mavs series so much that I've actually been watching it more intently than the 4-0 snorefest that was the Raps-Nets series (not unhappy about that, of course). I don't hate Kawhi Leonard, but I do think the way the Clippers are being shown up here is partly karma, and that's gratifying. And it looks like there is some substance to the whispers about Paul George not being a gamer in the playoffs.

Jack Armstrong used to say about Luis Scola that "he outslows you," but I think that really applies to Luka. When he drives to the hoop he slows right down and subtly bodies up against the defender to create room for his shot. It's actually quite amazing to watch.

Doncic has been fantastic so far and I agree that Clippers/Mavs series has been great.

Looking forward to seeing the Raps and Celtics kick things off. Putting up 150 in the final game against Brooklyn was something

Wish the Sixers actually put up a little bit of a fight to tire out Boston. They looked pathetic and will need drastic changes, basically the Leafs of the NBA.

Boston won't be an easy series. They play a cohesive, hard-fought game like the Raps, and I really hope Lowry's back. I bet on 6 games at least.

The Raptors are Canada's team!

They're looking really good, but it'll be very tough to repeat. I'm not expecting it actually.
And what a pain to be playing Boston next. I hate the idea of Toronto losing to another Boston team.

The timing couldn't be better for a repeat appearance in the finals. They are hot. Milwaukee is not. League history suggests teams tend to repeat too. Few teams have two championships because of this.

I also think the Raptors are the only team with something to prove. I get the feeling from watching that a lot of the players on the other teams just aren't trying atm. I feel the same way from watching the NHL finals. A perfect chance for us to hang onto the title.

How many of the Raptors are actually Canadian?

Just aren't trying? What the fuck lol

Two other teams in the East swept in convincing fashion against better teams. Miami plays a very similar game to Toronto and is one of the scrappiest teams in the league, with a ton of young talent to boot. I don't see how anyone can watch Miami and say they don't play like they have something to prove.

This is the most important playoffs for Lebron's legacy since 2017. He's likely going to drag the Lakers far further than they deserve to go. PG is playing terrible right now, but if they make it past the Mavs they're still favourites in the West. Him and Kawhi are under a lot of pressure to justify the massive moves that brought them together.

Yep. The Raptors have better playoff ratings last year and this year compared to the number the Canucks are pulling in so far. Canada's team.

The Raps and Celtics looking to boycott Game 1 of their series. My question is if both teams boycott will they will they make it a best of 5 series or just ad a game 8 if both teams end up with 3 wins a piece. Also if they do boycott playing I would love it if both teams came out took the knee during the anthems then just walked off the court. That would be a very powerful moment. More so then them just not showing up. It will also leave the broadcaster guessing that could lead to 3 hrs of discussions on the injustice that has gone on for far too long.

Celtics, Raptors continue discussions about possibly boycotting Game 1

source: https://www.boston.com/sports/boston...boycott-update

“Boycotting the game has come up for them as a way to again try to demand a little more action,” Nurse said. “I think that’s really what they want. I think there’s enough attention, and there’s not quite enough action, and I think that’s what I can sense from the discussion.”

Regardless if Game 1 happens as scheduled, it’s clear players are intent on finding alternative ways to use their platforms. Players did not elaborate on what else is being considered.

Not if it says Toronto on the jersey. I actually like the team but Toronto can't constantly be trying to make me cheer for their teams. Way too far away to be relevant here in BC.
The Vancouver Raptors would never get much support from Toronto.
