Well this site says:

So let's hope that it actually happens. It just sounds like they went through a lot of processes for the building codes.

Kirana Luxury Condominiums Tower

The Mayor, City Council members and staff attended the ground breaking ceremony for the Kirana Luxury Condominiums Tower on Thursday, December 16, 2010. Kirana Luxury Condos is a 39-story condominium tower with 91 units which 70% of them have been pre-sold.

“We are excited to have this upscale multimillion-dollar condominium complex here at the Island. This project shows signs that the economy is growing and will only bring good things to the Island,” ” said City Manager, Joni Clarke.
SPI Town

Here's to hoping this goes well!

The groundbreaking has already happened and when I went to SPI a couple of weeks ago, I could see construction going on. Now, can't wait to see cranes and the highrise skeleton going up, up and away!

Ok, well I emailed South Padre Island's building department, and they told me the building will be 421 feet tall. That makes it the tallest building in town. I also got the height for Sapphire, and they told me it is 403 feet tall.

I saw Stevie Ray Vaughn play a free concert on the beach during spring break at South Padre. (Did I just give away my age?)

So apparently next week they are going to start marketing the "new" Kirana. I don't know what to expect, so I guess we will wait and see...

Most likely. I wouldn't worry about it falling down in a hurricane...
