They actually play a condensed version of that Modern Marvels documentary when you go to the Sears Tower's observation deck.

Sears Tower, my favourite skyscraper.
I agree with Fabb, this building is (unfortunately) relatively uknown to most of
the world. Most people aren't skyscraper enthusiasts, but for those who are,
the Sears Tower is an important icon for the United States.

True but the only towers that are really known wide are The Empire State building and the Effle tower.

I learned allot watching this. I never realized that this building was almost skinned in granite.

You would have to figure the brains at THC are collecting material for Trump, Spire, etc.

Looking up at Sears from street level, gives you the perspective at just how massively tall this tower really is.

Exclamation Help Please~~~~~~

Hello dear fellow forumers:

I am building The Sears tower out of soda cans for a project in school due on Monday. I need you help! I know the basis for its construction which i will use 9 soda cans per "floor". If the first part has 7 "floors" how many floors should the other sections have.

OOO OO O O O
OOO , OOO , OOO , OOO O
OOO OO O

Is this Correct? PLease someone guide me and tell me if I'm Wrong.

I greatly Appreciate it.!!

Are you talking about the setbacks of each tube? If so, you're correct on your layout, except that the first set of setbacks occurs on the southeast and northwest sides of the building. Your positioning in relation to the other setbacks places them on the southwest and northeast, which is wrong.

Many thanks Chicago!! Let me just ask you one more question. On the first section i'm planing to have 7 "floors" after the first setback, 3 "floors" after the second setback, 4 "floors" and on after the last setback another 3 "floors". Does this seem right to you, or should i add/take away floors here and there. Please guide me, as Im currently in the process of painting more than one hundred cans black, and I will crazy clue each can on sunday.!

Many thanks!! I appreciate it!

I think you meant "5" on the second setback. In that case, you are correct. You'll have 7,5,2 after each setback.

Thought I would participate in the love fest with some of my photos (only a few):

Sears seems to make it's way into photos even if you try to avoid capturing it; it's just so massive. It is pretty much my version of the North Star in the city--blindfold me and drop me off anywhere in the city, and if I can see Sears I can almost guarantee that I will know where I am.

Easily the most menacing, most ominous, most bad-ass skyscraper the world has ever seen.

BTW I love the antennae on the Sears Tower. Very wise use of the space and it adds to the distinctive image that is the ST.

Also check out the additional antennae's on the last setback on the left in this pic.

I am a bit lazy right now but what happened to the Blackstone roof after the rehab in this pic? Is that real copper? oxidized that fast? It looks too uniform and fake IMO. No worse yet it looks like paint.

Thanks for a link into this issue in advance.

An American Icon, synonymous with power, ingenuity, ambition and desire for greatness.

And they BETTER NOT DO A NEW RE-CLAD with different shades of glass. I like this big black box just the way it is, thank-you very much.
