Why don't you throw up something temporary while you're working on it? Just have the basic information on one page and a notice saying it'll get better.

Yes, exactly. It may generate some interest by the media in some way, maybe the university papers or the BIG Winnipeg media.

Give it a shot.

Write an editorial to the news paper talking about what you're doing and list the website. They usually get printed. If you can get into one of those free papers they give away at the bus stations you will probably reach a good amount of people that care about the issue as well.

Take a look at Calgary's: http://www.calgaryurban.com/

They have a nice site, and a good logo. Simple and meaningful.

its a work in progress. we are hoping to fix it so we can scroll the text part rather than web page. Anything else may will be tweaked in the future.

We now have several urban groups:

TRUWinnipeg
Winnipeg Urban Initiative
Winnipeggers for Better Public Transit (Facebook)
Winnipeg Rapid Transit Coalition

I like the banner photo that Andrew did of the Pastry Castle on McDermot.

Much nicer (more urban) than Glen Murray's CUI (Canadian Urban Institute)'s banner:

Canadian Urban Institute website banner

This just says sprawl, and autocentric, not central city urban.

Good going Glen.

Actually I sent him an e-mail on this and his reply was:

Quote:
The CUI logo is U for "urban" on a circular blue planet. You would know what
we stand for if you read on.

Is the Winnipeg Urban Initiative still around? The site does not seem to work for me and I have never heard anything about them until I came across this.
