Towers has a few more (generously sized) renderings:

EDIT: kinda digging that pedestrian bridge over Waller Creek.

Is the roof angled? Or is it just that side of the building is at a skewered angle and the distortion of the pic makes the roofline look angled?

Love the bridge and feel of this. Reminds me of Wolf Point in Chicago if you squint your eyes.

Minus the standard Austin-style cartoon sized podium.

Oddly, this one has balconies on (what you would think is) the parking podium. If they opt for residences there, I understand the reasoning. That'd be a lot of creekside/lakeside frontage to waste on a parking garage.

That's an astute observation, Syndic. I hope that side has apartments and the parking garage is behind him as in the case of the Texas Doughnut model.

For what it's worth, the site plan for some utilities relocation was approved on 03/25. The site plan for the towers is still going through the process. If any site prep starts, it would be for this.

An update added to the site plan filing for the towers indicates that this is only a gnat's hair away from being approved and released. Whether or not this project starts in the near future will be a test of how robust Austin's economy will be post apocalypse.

Something I've always wondered...what are those red cables for? Some tension thing to strengthen the concrete?

Exactly - the method is called post-tensioned concrete. The cables are tightened after the concrete is poured. Common term for them is PT Cables

Commonly used in residential slabs too. That’s what my 25 year old house has.

I forgot about these two. Crazy that some of our most significant towers have flown under the radar.

So we're getting both towers, yeah? For a while it seemed like only #1 was definitely a go, and #2 was speculative.

Does this have funding? I don't remember if it does. It getting approved is a step, but there's still the funding issue that all projects face.
