From The Enterprise. When I get time tomorrow, I will try to post the article.

Murray City gives OK to $130 million transit-oriented project.

They said the first phase will start this spring as the financing has already been secured.

Awesome! Now Herriman will have a skyline.
But no really that is great news for that area.

Thanks for those updates.

The Manti Temple may be more beautiful inside than Salt Lake.

SOOOO were you once very very mormon or something? Because I don't recall there ever being an open-house for the salt lake temple. How'd you get inside?

Also out of curiosity, what are the 11 you've been in? The Draper one will be my first.

Red face So off Post

Not sure if this all fits into the MSA Thread overall topic.

I seem to recall the SLC Temple going through an extensive renovation (20?) years ago, and, at that time opened to the public before the rededication. I realize that most of you may have been just born around that time, so cannot fault you for not recalling the event. Then again, at my age I could be also imagining the entire thing. (sigh)

Hate to tell ya, but you are imagining the open house. It was about 20 years ago when the Salt Lake LDS temple (don't want to confuse it with temples of other faiths) was covered in scaffolding as all the soot and grime was cleaned off. Also at that time the old lights that were colored orange and green (depending on the time period) were replaced with the stark white lights that now light the temple at night. However, the only Open House ever held for the Salt Lake Temple was right before it was dedicated in 1893, I believe it was only for non-Mormon government officials, and probably only lasted an hour or so. Even as the SLC temple has been added on to over the years (the annexes that have been spoken of earlier), it has never had the entire building rededicated.

Perhaps you are thinking of the Jordan River temple (open house in 1981) or maybe a redo/opening of one of the Visitor Centers on Temple Square?

It really isn't such a big deal to say LDS in front of things that reference that church... the news always does it, even the LDS church does it when making their public announcements... the people giving Urbanboy a hard time are getting just as bad as the original comments made by Urbanboy. Can we just give it a rest?

Thankyou Urban logic for taking the time to take the pics. It's great to have you keeping tabs on the many projects in that area. Please keep the pics coming, they're much appreciated.

Question for anyone that supports "sustainability": Does a community like Daybreak fit your idea of the perfect suburb?
I think it fits mine, if there is such a thing. Seriously, walkability, trails, easy-access shopping & a few businesses, schools, and all energy-efficient and Oh don't forget the lake

It's not perfect, but it's much better! I wouldn't say it's sustainable or energy efficient, but it is an improvement. If it were completely off the grid, it would be even better. If the community produced it's own food, it would be even better. If the soil weren't contaminated, it would be even better.

I think it goes a long way in improving how people look at communities and the amenities they have to offer. Day Break while not completely sustainable is a great example of progressive thinking (IMO) The fact that it really does focus on the fact that Trax will be a key part of it, and the addition of a vast network or trails, both those things offer alternatives to driving your car.

If, heaven forbid, I had to move to the burbs Daybreak would be at the top of my list.

This is a great looking piece of architecture...If I were LDS or not, I wouldn't mind living next to this temple.
