Am I missing something? Is a hydrogen bomb about to be dropped on Music City?

WTF ever. Nashville is absorbing quite a bit of Class A space, and is competing more and more with Cool Springs. I think in time, especially with gas the way it is, more companies will look downtown, which means vertical construction will continue. Still plenty of parking lots and run down structures to be built upon. We will see another boom when the convention center starts next year, with at least 2 or 3 towers going up at the same time for sure.

Vertical construction of the tower portion is now well underway, about to the 3rd floor of office space.

A few pictures from this morning...

Should start to make an impact on the skyline in a few weeks.

The biggest thing that bothers me looking at the rendering is that the ground floor doesn't connect with the city, which is the problem with BellSouth/AT&T/Batman. This design seems stuck in 1970 and 1980's mode when it comes to no street retail and not being open to the public and connecting with the city.

Other than that, great design all above, definately Nashville's first significant office highrise since 1994's Batman. Took 14 years, but its time.

Actually, the ground floor will have a very upscale restaurant, a Pinnacle Bank branch, and a fitness center.

Also, the north crane is in the process of adding 4 new sections to itself today, and is almost complete doing that.

From the outside it looks like its entirely inside the building, otherwise you'd never know there was life going on.

When I talk about ground level retail, I mean serious retail. There is none in this building, but its not the only building like this of course. I mean all kinds of buildings in all kinds of cities are still leaving out key components to open them up to the city.

The north crane looks to be around 200 ft. now. Very cool!

The city demanded that it compliments the symphony hall across the street, and they made sure the base would. Plus, it is east of the main part of SoBro afterall. This building is just a warm up, because we're likely to see anoth swarm of cranes for the convention center and hotels.

Tower portion is starting to rise. If this is a post-tension structure, then it should rise fairly quick.

Not sure what type of structure the Pinnacle is. However, to me, it seems they are pouring a floor every week. So, hopefully, by the end of the year or the beginning of next year all the floors will be up.

It's been great watching this baby go up on the construction cam.

I was in the Encore! the other day and got to see a great view of it from above. To bad I left my camera in the car. However, it seems as if they are picking up the pace a bit.

^^^ Barely hanging in there and a long way to go. It could be worse, the place could be dead.

I thought this was a cool night shot from the cam 8-21-08

Just to compare with last week 8-23-08

So yeah, they look to be on a about a floor per week pace.

Does anyone know what floor they are on by any chance? My best guess is they are starting on the 14th if you count the last floor of the parking as the 6th according to their website's stacked floor plan. But I have heard that is the 7th too.

Here's the PDF
