The updating picture is showing they are really making progress on the slab.

Still guys frantically placing rebar ahead of the pour. I though they might stop the lower portion concrete at the narrow point. But they kept on going.

^You bet! I noticed they were also using the clamshell bucket thing that sits on the ground inside gate 2 at the bottom of the picture. A couple concrete trucks were in there.

the Granite pump boom guys were setting up when I finished work at 5am. It was neat watching them run the boom through its range of movement to make sure it would work when they attached the hose to it.

Yup, wouldn't want to load the pipe. Then extend that last section of boom you haven't used and have it come crashing down.

An other thought here. Looks like the higher level would be main floor elevation. Then the lower level will be the base for the plaza, upon which sand/gravel will be placed and paving stones (granite pads, whatever they're putting down) on top.

This image shows cast in place concrete and granite.

That's what I was sort of thinking. Don't want to have the BP trucks lined up and find out they can't discharge their loads into the pump hopper because the boom is not working.

I guess it will look different when I come back to work at 9pm tonight.

^They'll probably still be going at that time. Maybe close to 2/3 of the way through right now.

It would be interesting to be on the level below that pour they're doing now. A lot of concrete going in, especially in those areas which seems to be rather deep near the tree wells. Lots of street of the supports down there. I wonder if they camber the forms upward to account for settlement from the weight, if anyone knows.

Are crews presently working on the Scotiabank tower or the 24 story residential, or both?

Both. Basically right now they're almost finished with the below grade parkade levels. Scotiabank business tower will be completed first and the podium is at about floor 2 right now. The residential tower will be finished last and is almost at grade.

True, but I see the residential tower slowing down further... right now it's kept pace because of the shared parkade/foundation, but the lease obligations to the coporate tenants will take precedent of the the tower with zero apartment rental commitments.

Yes. They had noted the office tower will be completed first, opening next summer. I would assume they'll build at least the podium for the residential and continue on with the tower above. However, we haven't heard much recently on the residential.

OK, that was posted back in January... it's about time we got some leaks!

Concrete pump on the south side was raised up a level or two this afternoon.

Also looks like the slanty roofs are coming out too. Or they're doing something under there. Either way the tarp is open and the crane is in there.

From Sept 27 to March 14, around every three Tuesdays I'd take a screenshot, just to get a sense of progress.

Nice! Thanks for that!

I'm hoping TNSE will put together a nice time-lapse video of the project when it's complete. They're pretty good at that sort of thing.

So the city with no money wants to pump $20M into this project in the guise of “amenities”, $3M to the bum's plaza, $17 M for connections and skywalk connections. How about NO!

Like I said before, nothing can be built downtown without the stink of tax dollars!
