No, if you are talking about what looks like pre-cast, that is facing Grand Avenue. I honestly don't understand why they couldn't use glass like on the Ohio Street side.

Not sure if this is new or not but I just saw this on SCB's website:

"Fairbanks Court
Chicago, Illinois

In Chicago at the corners of Ohio Street, Fairbanks Court and Grand Avenue is the proposal for Fairbanks Court, a 55-story, mixed use tower. The two dominant parts of the program are the distinctive Streeterville condominium address providing 165 luxury one, two, three and four bedroom layouts and the 219 room hotel below it. Each has a distinct entry on Ohio and Fairbanks, respectively. On the 10th floor, the fitness spa offers both hotel guests and condominium owners the shared amenities of an indoor pool, a fitness room and a sun deck. Condominium parking occupies the first 8 floors of the tower along with some retail space at street level. The tower tops out at nearly 700’ for commanding views in all directions."

I'm confused. Is this that proposal that looks similar to the Mandarin and will have a Graves hotel? If so, it looks like they chopped off a hundred feet.

I hope, if this is Fairbanks, that "tops out" does not include that spire.

Anyone?

Looking at the thread, it seems this was passed and is just in interim mode at the moment. Is there anyone with new knowledge in the last month? Any hint of when it will be U/C?

You probably pass it at the wrong time of day. I've eaten there on several occasions. I think they close pretty early though. By 5pm or something.

100 Million??? That's got to be a joke.

I have no idea what the 100 M number means. It can not be the total cost of the building. The land the Chicago Spire sits on was bought for 64 M alone.

Either way good to see progress on this one.

Take a look at the Bidclerk page. I'm not a subscriber, so I can't see the complete details... but it seems as if the $100 million figure is the whole enchilada. The land purchase may already have been done, or Graves may have bought an option. Either way, land purchases don't show up on Bidclerk - it's a site to elicit bids for work.

Ya, $120 million is buying a 32 story condominium tower here in Omaha, let alone a 58 story tower in Chicago? Something is off with that number. I did notice the 1 is pretty close to the number 2 though.

Graves is not the developer. Hotels and hotel operating companies are very rarely developers themselves these days. I believe the developer is actually Draper and Kramer, but I need to double-check that. And $100 million is very obviously not the total construction cost. A reasonable estimate might be something like $300 million for this tower....

It would be a nice complement to 600 N. Fairbanks.

Yes, I believe another building will complement all the buildings in the area much better than a gigantic parking lot does...

This building has a hotelier if I am not mistaken. Always feel a little more optimistic where there is one. Don't know if that optimism is justfied but thats my take.
