Can I come to your open house, please!

Putting in a communicating stair is a no-brainer.

But with enough money most things are possible. At least for consideration.
No no, I would only want a staircase within the apartment as BVic suggested below.

i suppose an opening could be left in the floor and stairs could be built.
12 - 13K is exactly what I was thinking, I've got some ideas for the combination of the 84th and 85th floors, but no way to put them on paper since my drawing skills are less than limited.

I think it would be awesome, a kind of place you'd never want to leave. It wouldn't be for everyone, but I'm kind of a homebody, so it would be perfect.

Thanks guys!!!

I'm not financially ready to do something like this just yet, but I am interested in Waterview's Penthouse floors, 84 in particular. The outdoor space looks great and the tower is in a great location.

However, in the near future, a nice 12,000 sq-ft duplex with lots of terrace space isn't out of the question.

For now though, I just hope they build this damn thing.

Cheers

Waterview/Shangri-La developer says loan on track
By Alby Gallun, July 15, 2008

The crane atop the unfinished Waterview Tower and Shangri-La Hotel hasn’t moved in weeks, and construction workers have become a rare site at Wacker Drive project, now just a 26-story concrete shell.

Yet the developer of the 90-story high-rise and a representative of its prospective lender both deny rumors that a roughly $340-million construction loan for the project has fallen through. The loan from the Export-Import Bank of China was supposed to close in June, but loan negotiations simply have taken longer than expected, they say.

I have total confidance that this tower will be built. Things just aren't going as smoothly/quickly as we'd like. Most of the regular Chicago posters have been spoiled over the last two years with proposed building after building actually getting built. With the exception of perhaps the Mandarin Oriental, nearly all of the realistically proposed buildings have come into fruition. This is a pretty good record. I mean, I remember when the Legacy was proposed and I thought that this was just too good to be true. Now look at how it has sprouted into the skyline. The BCBS expansion seemed fanciful and that occured. So did Aqua.

If we got a quarter of what was proposed, I'd be thrilled. And we're doing much, much better than that.

Relax and enjoy what's happening NOW.

Absolutely, which is why when some posters were saying lately that they feel 'embarrassed' by all this etc, it made me laugh a little. We are certainly spoiled here in chicago; and like anyone who is spoiled, we have a tendency to expect more and more.

I have felt that the info posted in the article above was already fairly safe to assume. We had no official 'news', so I thought negotiations are likely still taking place. Of course, they wont just let this thing sit like this forever. If anything though, it may add some credence to himechme's idea that Beijing Construction is taking over, but now there are concerns over additional interior designs/finishes etc delaying a final agreement. But at this point, who knows?

The construction of Aqua was never in doubt, it is just one in a chain of many towers in a PD, the odds of any tower being built like that not getting built eventually are extremely low...

Himechme, whose veracity I wasn't sure about, was vindicated by that article yesterday. Now I know who to believe when contradictory information is posted on this site -- which is a big help since Himechme has posted lots of good info lately.

Very good news in that story, btw -- even if it wasn't "news" to some, it was validation of views I've held in suspense for a while, not knowing who/what to believe.

I'm reasonably confident again that this one -- one of the gems of the boom -- is going to build out.

I don't think we are going to have to wait until '09 for this to rev up.

Not really the point I was trying to make. But whenever a new building is proposed, there is ALWAYS obviously a chance that it will not happen. That's what I meant.
