Did anything come of the redevelopment of the Salvation Army Citadel on 221 Rupert Ave and the old red building at 224 King St north of the Dynasty Building? See pages 177 and 178 of this forum from Sep/Oct 2018.

Chinatown needs some TLC.

I live in the building behind salvation army on Pacific. Same guy owns both bldgs, and has said that they are redeveloping salvation army into (ostensibly) apartments extremely soon. he mentioned this during a convo abt why I can't buy parking in the back lane: because they will be putting a dumpster there for the renos. Whether that means it's this summer or beyond, I'm not sure - the interior is apparently in awful shape. I know he was in there on Friday afternoon.

The work they do is great, but they are incredibly conservative with their timelines. It literally took them years to finish 216 Pacific renos, even after the building was essentially finished and ready to put apartments in. They also for sure focus on making their properties (relatively) affordable, which probably ties somewhat into that conservative approach. Can't argue with actually high-quality, affordable housing.

TLDR: Expect good things from the light house bldg, but it might not be finished for a while.

Absolutely! I think it's just an empty lot there now isn't it? You'd think there wouldn't be anything to delay it's start once financing is in place.

Is the Bathgate block (242-246 Princess) still vacant? It's such an amazing building. I wish someone with deep pockets could treat it to the same kind of refurb the Fortune Block is getting.

That's awesome. It's hard to believe that development is creeping further up on Princess toward the results rail yards while much more prime locations don't see any construction activity.

It’s a Centre Venture controlled site... it’s unclear if CV has now become a
“developer” as well. I’m unsure if this is a market driven rental or some form of community housing. It’s also unclear how the project is to be financed if it is in fact a CV driven project. In any case to fill this hole in the street would be great but at what cost and by whom?

I doubt that it's community housing. The area is having other developments too, may be no surprise that more developments are coming

That's significantly better than Moco which really speaks to how sad Moco is...

Is MoCo that one on Pembina that replaced the bar? It's like a really long version of this one, but more dull.
