This photo really exemplifies how easy it would be to restore the width of the original median. You either remove one lane in each direction OR chop the width of both those parking lanes and moving lanes and you've got an extra 6-8 feet on each side of the current "park". Park Avenue deserves to have it's people space restored for a new era.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I looked at that photo.

I just can't get over how much poor 270 looks like an execution victim, with either a hood or a blindfold

Think of it as a reincarnation. Its getting a height boost and makeover. Growing into something better. It will be resurrected, that is for sure. If anything, this will put it on the map.

But I do see where your coming from. It does kinda look like that, in an abstract way.

I see a lot of concern for the MetLife. I've moved that discussion to its proper thread...

Update from an MTA committee meeting July 22, 2019 as it works to coordinate the LIRR eastside access station with the new tower...

i would be fine if the design ends up just being another box.

that is as long as we get a good design for the facade

At this point, I feel like I would just be happy with a rendering, good or bad. Of course, I don't expect it to be anything bad, but this is dragging out.

Wow they are really moving fast on this. I had an appointment In midtown this afternoon and took a peak on my way. Lots of progress compared to a few weeks ago the lobby was still mostly in tact now it’s completely cleared out and being used as a staging area there’s a ton of bobcats and Borkk robots waiting to be sent up.

I thought it was interesting many of the floors still look in tact like they could be leased tomorrow.

^What is that tall structure sticking up from the roof of 270? If you look closely, you can also see something similar on 277 Park Avenue, it's just harder to see because it's not covered in netting.

These new Park Ave towers along with Tower Fifth will be absolutely massive when viewed from 30 Rock. In some ways I feel it will remain the better observation deck as it’s prime location and at this point medium height will allow for spectacular views of the new towers. As long as nothing tall rises mid block in the gem district to block the ESB.

Too many setbacks for my taste, a few are okay, but large walls where you can look 1300+ feet up a building are cool.
