Sorry, unrelated, but r18tdi, your avatar looks like the new Calatrava sculpture

Anyway, now related, I really hope they leave those lights there.

Question for any structural engineers: would it reduce the efficacy of the blow-through if some sort of louvers were attached to the outside framing to this building? Even louvers that are operable?

Hmm, the curvature on that glass isn't going to turn the sun into a deathray, is it?

the glass is straight up & down, with the floor sizes fluctuating to give the appearance of curvature. won't be a walkie talkie situation like london

I look at the north face of the building. For the last two months, construction has been going very slowly? ...............or are they working mostly on the inside?

I witnessed a large Mayflower moving truck pulling in today. Possibly could be a resident.

Can a building like this get its certificate of occupancy without being fully enclosed?
It definitely seems like they're in no rush to finish that northwest corner.

That's correct. The Department of Buildings will issue "partial" certificates of occupancy. However, they do not issue "temporary" certificates of occupancy. That's something up to the discretion of Scott Franckowiak - the new construction supervising inspector.

NEMA / OMP looking pretty lonely. A couple more 800ft towers in the South Loop would magically extend the skyline spread by a good 25%

I've used photos of Chicago from across Lake Michigan as proof that the world is round against dumb flat earthers lol It's obvious the lake is curving up in front of the bottom of the buildings. You can't see the bottom of the buildings. Looks like the whole city got flooded in hundreds of feet of water. The further away you get too the less you can see of the bottoms of the buildings. Nice pics!

To give flat earthers even a second of time is...well...a waste of time. Good post.

I’m sure this has been talked about in great detail, but what is the purpose of that 2-floor gap near the top? If it’s to break up the wind or something like that there’s certainly taller buildings that handle things fine without the gap.

It’s a beautiful building especially in that last shot!
