ok so we like the older one but at the time we thought it was boring, what could they have done to make it more interesting? and help ease the issues that the neighbors brought up?

Taller, thinner, more glass. Better interaction with the street.

I think that they could have spruced it up with bit of color, instead of just white.

What is a "limited service hotel", that doesn't sound too good, so do you have to make your own bed?

^reminder that the Hampton Inn and Suites is the hotel currently being built on Stavanger Drive, not the downtown hotel

Remember guys: we got our hands on the LUAR before it's been discussed at council, so talks of the proposal are probably still not quite on the radar just yet.

I noticed it was regarding the one on Kemount or Stavanger. I forgot what thread this was in, and so did Jeddy I guess. I was making a joke about what "limited service" might mean, like having to carry your own bags and bring your own towels, eating out of vending machines etc.

It'll be three Mariott locations once they build across the street from their other hotel on Duckworth

There's a hotel in downtown Charlottetown? haha I have no idea I haven't had a chance to explore downtown yet.

It could be that one building that has over 3 floors. Hmm....

It's this one, loks like it already happened in November, (but I would expect it would be bought and reopened again):

^Ah yes that place. So strange, it was recently renovated only about 2 years ago.

I think that building would be way too tall for downtown St. John's yet it sits very nicely in the historic downtown here (though the upper-portion of the building really isn't that attractive).

It's only 10 stories, but it suffered from budget cutting on the exterior.

BTW I found a definition for limited service hotel:

Quote:
Web definitions:
limited service hotel

A hotel that provides a place to sleep but perhaps nothing more, such as meals, airport shuttles, and concierge services.

I find that weird that the Hampton Inn and Suites will be a limited service hotel. I've stayed at plenty of Hampton inn and suites and they've all had complimentary breakfasts and excellent, quality services. It would be a shame if we get a crappy one of these and I will be very disappointed

I stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Dartmouth Crossing. It was nicely decorated, and there was a free breakfast but it was only a basic serve yourself buffet. I am pretty sure there was no restaurant, which makes sense because you're an area with restaurants in walking distance. I'd say the one on Stavanger will be the same thing.
