Grade 75 rebar in this project as well. Factor in the higher grades and the higher PSI concrete, it will make beefed up projects of the past seem massive. You are seeing 6-8k psi concrete, I believe Trump had 10-12k psi concrete in the core walls.

Don't think I've ever seen steel outpace the core like this. Are they trying to cast the horizontal beams IN the concrete of the core? Tying it all together into one massive structure?

It makes sense though, putting the steel in first. Can't put concrete in tension, so can't just tie the horizontal beams to the core and let them pull on it. Got to tie them to the other side and balance it out.

Amazing structure. Having this and next year the Wanda Vista going up should be great for skyscraper geeks.

I hope it gets its skin as soon as it's feasible. The steel is cool but will look amazing when a wall of glass looms over the river.

Just the aggregate speculation. Wanda Vista isn't definite (for '16, at least) either, is it?

I hear the concrete is 12k psi but it has to meet some design requirement and is an actual 14 k psi mix.

Got a reference for that?
This one only has the 12000 psi specification.
http://www.prairie.com/news/news_72.asp

IIRC, 432 Park had a similar situation. The concrete had specifications for both strength and stiffness modulus, and in order to meet the stiffness requirement, the strength ended up being way over specification. Not a bad thing, it's just how concrete works.
