Be prepared for Sticker Shock when you go to the REC ROOM !!!

Holy crap this place is crazy expensive ! For a fast casual/ Pub food dining experience --- the prices are borderline offensive.

Good luck to them , I am sure there are plenty of people who will frequent this place on a Regular Basis , and hand over their hard earned money with giving it a second thought --- this guy won't be one of them !

what do you consider expensive?

Most restaurants in Vancouver you're looking at $15+ for a basic burger with a side.

Unless it's fast food, that's what you're looking at here in St. John's area too.

Looking at the menu none of the food is much more expensive than what you would find downtown at a restaurant.

There's an argument to be made that all food in St. John's restaurants is expensive.

The craziest thing on the menu is 7 bucks for a non-alcoholic beer.

We went to the Rec Room on Monday and didn't find it too bad. I had the chicken cobb and the husband had the 6 bones ribs. Prices on par with similar restaurants around like Montanas, Bigs or Boston Pizza. We got 2 play cards (or whatever they are called) and played some of the games. Bowling on the weekends seems a bit steep ($70 an hour for a lane - $7 per person during the week).

More power to you, if you can justify the following prices --- I myself think its Insane, but to each their own. Here are some examples off their Menu :

12 Wings $20 plus tax
Chicken Caesar salad $ 20 plus tax
2 Piece Fish and Chips $ 23 plus tax
9 Piece Ribs $ 27 plus tax
Individual Pepperoni Pizza $ 15 plus tax
Lasagna $23 plus tax

Drink prices are not listed, but I'm pretty sure a soda was $5 . I have no idea how much the Game bracelets were.

Again, to each their own -- my personal opinion is, these prices are absolutely Crazy . I am sure we will return in the future, but it Definately will not be a place we frequent often.

Prices are what I expect for this sort of place. It's not just a standalone restaurant...it's an entertainment complex that has restaurant.

If anything the prices look somewhat reasonable in that sense.

I agree. We were there with the intention of getting something to eat during our stay. We played the games and enjoyed it, but we went to the food court to eat. Rec Room was too expensive. Food court is not cheap, but more in line with what’s reasonable for the average person/family. Given the concession prices at the cinemas, it’s clear that Cineplex is going to charge top dollar for everything.

Apparently the Pizza Delight on Kenmount Road is going to be rebranded to another restaurant but I do not know what one. Wondering if anyone else heard anything.

Pizza Delight is owned by parent company MTY Food Group.

So my guess if it is rebranding to another restaurant. It would be one of the many options from this list

thats becoming the norm these days out west. Australia prices would kill you haha.

How much is soup out east?

In Vancouver/BC, most restaurants are charging $8+ for soup. A restaurant I worked at on the island a few years ago started to charge $10! for soup. But at that price they give you a piece of bread with it at least.

I work in the industry costs are going up like crazy these days. I don't know if most people know this but most wings in Canada are brought in from Brazil, Canadian wings are just too expensive.

That's quite an exhaustive list of restaurants. Although I'm sure most of them serve the same family-style restaurant food as what's currently offered around here. I wouldn't mind seeing some of these pop up just as a change...

Ya massive list. It seems a large chunk of them are Food Court Style restaurants more than standalone. Have to wait and see. Hoping its just something new

I'm sure the Pizza Delight location is a franchise, so the building is probably owned by the franchise holder... which means the're not limited to bringing in a concept from the same group.

The inside was redone as well. Looks great. That may be all that is going on with the store on Kenmount.

Barry's Bistro and Grill opening in Park Place or Chateau Park or whatever its called these days. I don't know who Barry is but he deserves a Michelin Star if he can run a successful restaurant in that location.
