^That 1 at the end of your name indicates optimism. I said 755,000, but now will say 799,999. We should hold a lotter. closest to the actual retail (since statcan charges)population wins statcan publications for one year.

Well I am going to guess 800,001 to completely box him out of winning.

^Drat, I've stopped watching TPIR since Drew took over. Can I choose 800,002?

You have to remember this was at a different time period, before these cities really exploded in population... I think Winnipeg can easily beat out Quebec City, it's just Hamilton that I am worried about (only because it's right by Toronto...) I'm sure when Winnipeg hits 1 million there will be plenty of change not only downtown but throughout the city.

You can't even tell when one city ends and another begins in that part of Canada. Hell Mississauga is probably over a million people now. And Brampton has half the population as Winnipeg. I'll bet you most people in Winnipeg have never even heard of Brampton.

But Hamilton has had an Ikea for a few years now. And that is the real measure of a city is it not?

I dunno, Quebec City isn't exactly stagnating. I think they'll be neck and neck for a while.

It should, except Hamilton. Hamilton has always been its own city, not a a bedroom community of Toronto. You can tell when you go there. It's got a real downtown.

I was comparing to Winnipeg, as in Saint Boniface was once its own city and had its own downtown, but yeah I guess since I have never been but seriously need to.

Mississauga has a much nicer "downtown" than Hamilton. But I guess that is a subjective view...

IMHO Hamilton is a bedroom community every bit as much as any city withing 100kms of Toronto.

Hamilton isn't a bedroom community, it is a satellite city, like Kitchener/Waterloo or Brantford or Oshawa. It is a separate city with a very close relationship to a much larger city nearby, much like Selkirk has a relationship to Winnipeg but on a much larger scale.

yeah but Hamilton is connected with other suburbs much like Missisaga is connected with other suburbs to downtown Toronto Selkirk has areas of no connection to Winnipeg, Yeah I guess when you look at Tokyo, Yokohama is connected but still considered a different city so in that perspective its like that but if Mississauga is considered metro Toronto then shouldn't Hamilton be considered metro Toronto?
