VIA is planning an election in November 2010 to fund a light rail system!

Not me, no longer in the city. But my grandma and family are unwilling to support such a measure, no matter how awesome I say LRT is.

I really think there is more than enough support to pass this. I know myself and others on this forum will be tirelessly campaigning to make light rail a reality in this city.

Just be persistent. Seattle tried to float a $100bn roads and transit measure that failed spectacularly in 2007, but brought back a $17bn transit-only measure the next year that won by about 10 points, even though all the main movers and shakers from the prior plan said it would be a bad idea to move forward in 2008.

The man who said "not in 2008" just lost re-election as mayor and the man who said "2008 or bust" just got elected as our new mayor.
