Fine for NYC where density like this is an economic necessity and land is incredibly scarce but not Buckhead where the buildings can afford to be more personable.
I disagree. Buildings can be tall and friendly on a human scale, and I think 3344 will achieve both.

I agree, gttx. I already like the way it greets the street. Can't wait to see what Pano has in mind for his "legacy" restaurant that's coming to the southern base of this beauty.

My 2 cents...

If anyone is worried about structures that detract from Buckhead, this should be last on the list. What about the tacky shopping centers and condo towers without any street presence (though I like them)? This definitely fits in with Buckhead, especially with The Mansion (heightwise) and the other new glassy towers going up.

3344 and The Mansion have changed the Buckhead for the better. Buckhead's skyline no longer looks plateauish; it actually looks like nice midsized skyline. I think some could argue it's in the same playing field of skylines such as Nashville, Tampa, etc.

I think it's safe to say Buckhead got its signature tower.

It doesn't look out of scale to me. The Williams Tower in Houston, now that's out of scale.

If anything in Buckhead is out of scale, it would be Park Avenue Condos...its just kinda sitting out there in the middle of nowhere...

I'm jealous. Too bad it couldn't have been built in the core.

It is technically. The population center of Metro Atlanta is between Buckhead and Permeter Center, both several miles north of downtown.

IMO, this peachtree core looks better than the main core.

Not so much po-mo crap. (90's po-mo is the worst)

But, like i said that's just my opinion. - (I'm a boxy-skyline-guy)

Technically center of population is completely different from the central portion of a city.

I think Buckhead is close enough to the city core to call it apart of the "core". You could even say anything ITP is the "core". I think the area between Downtown and Buckhead is merging into one gigantic core. But this building has transformed Buckhead almost over night. Hopefully it will set a height precedent and we will see towers as tall and taller in Buckhead. The likelyhood of taller buildings in Buckhead is much better now.

It has been a while since I was on this site or in the Buckhead area, but I was at Lenox last weekend and was stunned at the sight of this building. The original renderings do not do it justice. The photography on this site is great, but still...the building is breathtaking in person. Almost everything is right. The height, mass, lines, curves, setbacks, street interaction and down to the smallest details are all superb. I'm envious of the people who will reside in this building and would love to attend a party and stand on those huge balconies. My hat is off to the architect and to the developer that is holding to the original design and not cutting corners. Magnificent!

3344 is definetly a nice looking building, the curves really make it sleek and sexy, so to speak. It'll probably Buckhead's tallest for at least 5 years.

Yeah, this thing is stunning in person. And keelanfish is right - while we do have some great photographers, you really cannot fully appreciate 3344 until you see it in person.

I'm going to have to switch from 1180 to this as my new favorite tower here.
