Memorial Day weekend I was in Nashville for a friend's wedding. Here are some pictures of the central city. Part two, which I'll post tomorrow, will feature photos from the surrounding neighborhoods.
Oh, the Midwest...
These next few are from the state house and its grounds. It was incredibly surreal while we were there. It was uttely deserted because a powerful storm was brewing in the air. It was windy, but silent except for train whistles blowing every few minutes from some rail line in the distance. If I am ever going to film a disaster movie I intend to recreate those circumstances, because it was eerie.
This is the new downtown station for the Star commuter rail.
And finally, this is the historic Union Station. It's a hotel now. AFAIK no longer used as a functioning depot.
There was a time when southern cities were among the country's most beautiful. Now most traces of feminine charm have been destroyed. It's nice to see reminders like these.
Inside is gorgeous. Photos do not do it justice. The colors are much more vibrant in real life.

Greats pics! I'm sorry the weather couldn't be more cooperative on your visit. What can we expect in the second set? Midtown? East Nashville? The Gulch? Germantown?
Great set of photos of my hometown. I was wondering if you were going to have a photo thread for us from your trip down there. The interior shots of Union are amazing.

Nice set of shots Cirrus. Nashville looks like an interesting city. Almost seems like it has multiple personalities: Corporate white collar, blue collar honky-tonk, staid state capital, cheesey tourist trap. Maybe that's just me, I've never been, so the vibe is probably different once in the city.
Cool murals too.
Thanks.
