I imagine the great density in Chongqing is because of the central core island, a la pittsburg?

I've been fascinated with Chonqing since a 516m tower was proposed in the early 90s. It was an ugly design and I wasn't really sorry that it failed, but it revealed how ambitious and forward looking Chongqing was.
