The building across from PF Collins Is the new centralized warehouse for the NL Liquor corporation.

Buildings part of the Harvey Power center (i.e., between the back of dominion and new Rona) are started and coming along well. Also, the Mr. Lube building on the corner of Torbay Road and White Rose Drive is started.

here's that map of the feild power centre

this is what was released for the southlands just for comparison:

how can two of the same type of developments be allowed to be so different in the same city? why doesn't council try to encourage them to make "retail villages" and more pedestrian friendly orientations to the stavanger drive area?

NOTE: there are about 20 buildings in the Feild power centre (all shown stages) and about 35 locations in the southlands/ glencrest development in STAGE 1.

(This will be posted in the retail thread as well)

The January 7, 2013, St. John's Council meeting minutes are now up.

http://stjohns.ca/sites/default/file...207%202013.pdf

From Page 19:

Quote:
1. Representatives of KMK Properties Inc. to discuss proposed revised Stage 2 for Tiffany
Estates Residential Development – Tiffany Lane (Ward 4)

Representatives of KMK Properties Inc. were in attendance to discuss the proposed revised Stage
2 for Tiffany Estates Residential Development.
On a motion put forth by Councillor O’Leary; seconded by Councillor Hickman the
Committee recommends that the applicant be asked to prepare a Land Use
Assessment Report (LUAR) for the proposed revised Stage 2 of the Tiffany Village
Seniors’ residential Development. It is also recommended that once the report has
been received and reviewed by staff, that staff be directed to proceed with public
notification of the application, the LUAR and required text amendments to the
Municipal Plan and Development Regulations. This process would include a
newspaper notice, notices mailed to property owners and residents in the area and
posting of the LUAR on the City’s website.
The Committee recommends the proposed terms of reference for the Land Use
Assessment Report as attached be approved by Council.

Forgot to mention that Bennett House in Pleasantville is beginning to gain its color! I didn't have my camera (I saw when I was at work) but it looks really good. Very bright. Can't wait to see it complete.

Thanks for the photos, I understand that in winter it might look a bit desolate. That kind of development, however, does not seem very enticing to make someone (e.g. me) move there or move back.

It's pretty desolate and bleak out there. Definitely not the best development area in St. John's at all.

This morning I turned around on Signal Hill and aimed my camera down on Pleasantville again.

The new long-term care facility:

The new DND building (about time) and the portion of the former American base that the Canadians are hanging on to:

And Bennett House, with Pepperhill's Landing:

Yeah I love it. Its growing into one of my favorite places in the city. Maybe its the various connections I have to it... but I'm a huge Pleasantville fan.
