that's an interesting observation.

There aren't very many Scandinavians in Boise (me being one of the few), especially compared to the Midwest where I grew up. But the "vibe" of Boise is very much similar to Scandinavian cities -- the people are very nice, and the city is squeaky clean and safe.

The weather, however, is milder and drier.

Epic
Boise does a great job at mixing its urbanity with the natural environment.

Thanks!

I would agree the city is fun. We have an impressive variety of culture and a great mix of nature that blends with our urban landscape.

Boise is also the base camp for the incredible adjoining wilderness and whitewater. McCall, The River of No Return Wilderness, Sawtooth Wilderness, and Sun Valley are all nearby.

Have you also learned that secret from the river; that there is no such thing as time? That the river is everywhere at the same time, at the source and at the mouth, at the waterfall, at the ferry, at the current, in the ocean and in the mountains.-Hermann Hesse

Boise is a metropolis in the sense that the city is the largest for hundreds of miles in any direction and is the major urban area for Southern Idaho, Eastern Oregon and Northern Nevada.

Boise is known to "punch above its weight".

And we have excellent beer

Thanks again for the comments everyone!

I have posted a new photo continuation thread for 2019 over in the Mountain West forum to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the legendary Boise River Greenbelt as well as highlight new and on going construction and the lifestyle of Boise.

Great looking city, and seems very progressive. The mix of outdoors and urban is superb. On my to do list!

Great city indeed. Just topped a recent best places to live survey, among cities with median home prices under $250k I believe. Hopefully its progressive side influences how it responds to all the future growth... Just read that the city is going to subsidize uber rides to some bus stops, to encourage more transit use. So cool! Idaho is a pretty politically red state so it'll be interesting to see how Boise deals with density, etc.

Hopefully it never gets too hip and cool, though, as then the people come in droves and ruin what makes it what it is.

Beautiful pics, looks like my kind of place and I definitely need to visit!
