I think the outside looks just fine. It almost looks like a grey and black/blue brick finish, a la waterfront drive, or other buildings around.

I also didn't realize there is still a CRU component. That's nice. Too bad it couldn't be the entire front of the parkade.

I think it looks good too. Not a showstopper but certainly not bad either. It'll be a major improvement for that stretch of Stradbrook.

Seeing how far back the parkade is from the street, and how prominent it is from both sides, it’s really disappointing that there aren’t townhouses or commercial in front of it. Such a waste of space. It’s worse in person than the plans made it seem.

I may have or someone else here written about the lighting levels (lumens) just off of Harkness Stn. It's fine at the Stn. itself, but on a dark wintry night, I don't feel as safe once I step to that apartment block adjacent to.

Hopefully this new apartment block will address the lighting levels in the area.

And secondly, has there been any word of the convenience store chain or independent that will operate at the main fl. of 227?

Using it for the build. The previous crane was likely too small, but was cheaper than this larger one.

Yes, I understand the purpose and size of cranes.

I was asking in regards to the delay to get it assembled and functioning. It was supposed to be complete by 5h00 Monday morning.

It helps then to be specific with your questions, I would have answered it the same as bomberjet.

Waiting for this new crane to arrive was the reason behind ceasing construction on the tower portion over the last few weeks.

If I have my cranes right, apparently there has been some mechanical issues leading to the delays.

You have the right crane Biff, as that's what the Winnipeg TMC has been reporting in their twitter account as the cause of the traffic delays in the area.

The closure is now expected to end at 5am on Oct 23 according to their last status report (14:54) on that closure.

I know there are fees to close the street but are there also fines if they do not open when scheduled?

my daily commute has gone for 25 minutes to 45 minutes because of this road closure. some of you will say 20 minutes is no big deal, but that's 20 minutes late for watching my kids hockey game (I missed 1st period) and 20 minutes late for my own Dr appt which almost never got me in.

I sure hope they are getting fined

Should have gone with a tower crane.

CBC reported today that the crane broke on the first day and they were still trying to correct whatever the problem was.

I don't see anything on the fee schedule for costs for not vacating the street on time. I wonder if they city just hits the permit holder up for additional day(s) rental costs and says its good.
