Makes sense. Comal county is one of the fastest growing counties in the state. I've seen some stats on it, and it is growing unbelievably fast. Not just in New Braunfels (which is growing by leaps and bounds), but all over Comal county: Bulverde, Spring Branch, Canyon Lake, Schertz (yes, part of schertz is in comal), Garden Ridge, etc. etc. Housing is going in like wild.

How fast (number-wise) is it growing?

From 2000-2006 Comal County grew by 30% and added nearly 24,000 people.

Good news. Now it's on par with "Austin-Round Rock."
...Or how long until Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos, since San Marcos and New Braunfels are of similar size ?

My mother's cousin (whom I've never met) is a long-time resident of Bulverde.
Is there anything in that town particularly worth visiting ?

I think populations have to be at a certain level before you can juxtapose a third or even fourth city to the MSA. As for Bulverde, there's nothing particularly worthing of visiting in Bulverde but it is a very beautiful area.

This simple statement is so cool. I mean when I lived in San Antonio starting in 1980 New Braunfels was the first town (of real size) on the way to Austin. And now with all the growth of that area it truly is a suburb. Reminds me when my Grandma lived on Randolph in 1959 that when I told her I was moving back with my parents in 1980 and it would be the first city I lived in she said....San Antonio is about 10 miles south at loop 13. Universal City back then was way out.....my things have changed.
