Soto Update

The Soto will be more than what its Broadway facade depicts in renderings. The more interesting part of this development will be the back side of the project that faces Avenue B. I saw a rendering today (sorry I couldn't capture an image) that shows a couple of restaurants, a central yard, a rooftop bar and a taco stand facing the street. It looks a bit like a mini version of the Pearl, geared toward all the new residential in the area. The person I spoke to also mentioned that The Soto has a ton of interest (leasing) and will be substantially leased up once its ready for occupancy.

The Soto

That's the one! This backside of this development looks absolutely incredible. In 10 years, lower Broadway will be totally transformed.

Ooooh, now this photo (by Rebecca Slazek) is really cool. If you had an office facing west you could look out the window and see the CPS building, the Thompson, and the Tobin Center as well:

This is going to become of my favorite stretches of Broadway with all of the development going on. My hope is that the continued growth in this area will force out the business nearby that seems to have a 24/7 convoy of 5 trucks or 5 sedans running their route down Broadway and the back streets.

I get that they are doing a job but they need to find another area of town to do this. There is too much pedestrian and bike traffic in the area and these guys are always speeding around with little regard for others around them.

I’m pro business but this is one that needs to find another home.
