Edmonton - Bellamy Hill tower - 378' - 36 floors | PRO

Massive condo tower project proposed for Bellamy Hill
The Edmonton Journal
Published: Friday, June 08, 2007

EDMONTON - A 34-storey condominium tower is being proposed for 9925 Bellamy Hill, beside the Edmonton House apartment hotel.

Transamerica Group has hired Brinsmead Ziola Kennedy Architecture to prepare a rezoning application for the site, and to design the building.

It would accommodate 101 two- and three-bedroom units plus underground parking.

"The tower has been designed as a tall and slender shaft of granite, stainless steel and glass," says a letter sent from the architect to neighbouring property owners.

"Above the lobby, the tower rises in a series of defined levels that includes horizontal bands of stainless steel, curved balconies, rooftop terraces, sweeping glass walls and a dramatically articulated top with sloped roof and metal panels," it continues.

Current zoning would allow a 15-storey building with 101 units.

Certainly better than the last design for the site, still not fantastic but I wouldn't mind seeing it in Edmonton's skyline...

Oh and eh, I've got to say this is a bit better than what we've been seeing being built here.

Yeah, the top floor looks cool, but I hate the four floors with the rounded corners underneath. It doesn't match the overall style and ends up making this tower look too busy
