Yup, it's a little depressing when you think of it. I was really hoping the completion of SWRT would build momentum into the next corridor or at least into completing the current leg over Main to Union Station.

Training for what exactly? Is driving phase 2 that much different than phase 1, frig it's a bus not an airplane!

Operators have to be familiarized with the route and stations, and specific operating procedures, especially crossing roadways which the current leg doesn't do. They also need to know how the feeder routes will interact with the transitway.

Driving new routes, they get timing worked out. But ya 6 months of testing is a long time IMO.

Training hasn't been announced yet. I'd expect a bulletin soon if they expect to put 1100 bus operators through it without impacting service. Now that the instruction section has access I'd imagine they need to polish their training plan.

Went to the UK a few years back, rented a car and never having driven right hand side and on the left into traffic, 3 and 4 lane roundabouts etc. picked it up in a couple days!

Not disparaging bus operators, but six months to train on a new roadway, seriously!

I think it has more to do with starting service when the Univs. are winding down for the year. They don't want to have too many passengers using the system if there were problems, like too many passengers.

Too much success is not a good thing, according to WT, I guess.

Still, I will enjoy riding the 60 Pembina bus if I want to go to Pancake House or to get a haircut. Won't need Made-in-Manitoba 'rt' for that.

Its not only testing/training in the 6 months. Transit won't put any new routes in between schedule changes. The start date I believe will be the same time as the spring schedule change with rest of the assorted route changes (if any) in Winnipeg.

I believe it is Sunday April 12th, which happens to be Easter Sunday.

Actual training for each operator will probably be and hour or 2, done in groups of 6 to 12, several groups per day.

From my quick glance the City is showing RT lines from north Main through downtown all the way down St. Mary's. Connecting southwest route through P&M westward down Portage. Eastern line looks to be on nairn over existig Nairn overpass and using Higgins.

I do not see them actually creating any sort of RT network along those routes.. It says dedicated right of ways in one location. Then show it basically on the street in the maps.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

Specifically page 5 which shows the network concept. But need more info on actual implementation.

Also note the primary network map (large version here https://winnipegtransit.com/assets/2...k_Oct22-19.pdf) shows ped bridges over the Red in 2 locations we recently talked about. U of M and Fort Rouge.

The eastern corridor will route through Point Douglas. I feel the City is completely screwing all of this up..

I thought that the ped bridges over the Red were kind of interesting. Funny that they don't show the one over the Assiniboine which is probably going to be the next ped bridge built.

There is an overwhelming amount of information on the map so it's hard to judge it at a glance. But from a personal standpoint it sucks. One of the things I liked about the place I moved to a couple of years ago was excellent transit service, particularly express rush hour service just a few metres away from my door. That is gone under the proposed scheme... all I'll have is a local feeder that will take me in one of two directions to transfer a primary route downtown. Which pretty well eliminates any possibility of me becoming a regular bus commuter again once I no longer have to pick up and drop off my kids.
