If I could play SimCity with Winnipeg, I'd rather have five 'mid-sized' (5-10 floors) commercial office buildings constructed on some of our surface lots than one 30+ story building. I doubt there is enough demand to have it both ways.

Hate to say I agree with you. I'd like to see downtown Winnipeg devoid of large surface lots. Small ones are fine.

I hope you are ready to eat these words, because we are nothing like Regina. Since your post, look at all the massive developments that have been announced for our downtown (residential, commercial, entertainment, etc.), helping us get ready to host an NHL team. Regina will never have that because they are just too small. No offence, but that is the reality of it. They MIGHT have their new stadium, but not much more.

Winnipeg is in a completely different league, and is on a role right now in the right direction, and it's about bloody time!

I wasn't speaking to you. This is a Winnipeg thread, so please go and boost Regina elsewhere, thanks. And please stop responding to every post I make. Thanks again.

Just look at all the changes happening in Winnipeg within the last few months, even years:

- IKEA
- MTS Centre
- Hydro Building
- CHRM
- New Airport Terminal
- Residential development all over the city
- New Stadium
- Our Population increasing at record levels
- Avenue Building
- Mitchell Building
- Downtown zoning plans
- New hotels in downtown and near airport
- New Entertainment District
- Rapid Transit (hopefully rail transit )
- And ultimately, the inevidable return of the NHL to Winnipeg

I have no doubt that in 5 years, all of these effects will have transformed Winnipeg into a much different city, for the better. I can't wait to see our city blossom into a city envied by the rest of the country
