I love the tower, just think that it is oversized for the city. Nice floorplans and nice spires.
It is too bad that once you walk out the front door of the tower that there will be next to nothing to see or do. Yes the library and new symphony hall are great, but I mean neighborhood locations such as coffee shops, grocery stores, stores of any kind I guess. I suppose most will get into the car and drive to the existing city centers or suburbs for every day needs.

Nothing to do? Have you ever been there. It appears not.

Thumbs up

A contractor has been chosen for Signature Tower. The contractor has worker on 14 of the world's tallest including Taipei 101. Also, the official height of the tower is now 1,052 ft.

When did it get so tall?! Last time I checked it was in the 800' range.

Damn, I'm JEALOUS.

Great building...it's stunning.

Where have you been? This thing has raised eyebrows all over the nation since it was released in early May. It's been in USA today, NY Times and even overseas newspapers. It will be the tallest building in the United States outside NY and Chicago.

And it is by far the best design for a new skyscraper in America right now. Contrasted by that hideous thing Louisville is building.

And at 1,052', taller than Chicago's Waterview at this point.

That has got to be about the best looking new building out there! I love that top, and the height will be a MUCH needed addition to the Nashville skyline!

According to gaushell, hotel announcement is expected for Signature Tower this Monday. Here's an article on the construction of the tower. This article claims the height will be 1,057 ft. Everything still looks good for construction to begin in January though it'll take a while before it starts rising out of the ground.

Signature Tower has landed its' boutique hotel. Hotel Palomar by Kimpton Hotels will be the hotelier. Judging by their quality properties, I believe this is a perfect fit.

There's a good article about the tower in Engineering News Record (not sure if anyone else posted this): http://enr.ecnext.com/free-scripts/c...=nebuar060731a

This really is a beautiful building and probably the best thing is that the spire is not ungodly tall in order to make this building break 1000'. Signature Tower's spire is quite proportional to the rest of the building.

Unlike a lot of asian towers and particularly one Dubai building under construction (not mentioning any names) this tower does not have a spire reaching hundreds upon hundreds of feet into the air in order to increase height status.

Signature Tower is rather bulky most of the way up with no setbacks until the crown which is quite reminiscent of early skyscrapers like ESB, Chrysler and 40 wall street, and perhaps that is one of the reasons those buildings are so loved.

I can't wait until the first shovel hit the ground. Nashville has become the envy of all mid-sized cities in NA concerning new projects going up. They struck gold with this one.

This is a perfect fit for the tower. The average income of Church Street is starting to inch up and this only helps anchor that end of the street with upscale amenities and a vibrant feel. I love it!

The Hotel Palomar will be the perfect fit for the Signature Tower, IMO. The signaturetowernashville.com website now features a link to the Kimpton Hotels website so people can get a feel for the luxury and amenities that will be provided both the Hotel Palomar and the Signature Tower condo residents. Also, there are now 148 condos listed as reserved for the project. That's more than 35%. There's almost no way that this project is not going forward.

Groundbreaking set for January 2007. Still waiting for a sign on the property for passersby to see what the tower will look like. Nashville can be patient however. Currently there are 4 tower cranes (boom cranes) in the CBD, and approximately 10 cranes within the downtown loop. Plenty to watch until Signature comes out of the ground.

It looks very impressive, but two shorter versions of that would go farther I feel. But this does set the city on the skyscraper map.
