It’s happening! Slowly but surely - there are some big projects underway in the cbd. I much prefer it too, despite the current sketchiness. Even Rosebank is nicer in this respect.

I’ll post project info when not on mobile!

Ok let’s have a couple more threads about random suburban districts that are also adding attractive mid rises and scattered towers

Will Clayton grow like manhattan

Will the woodlands grow like manhattan

Will Bellevue grow like manhattan

Will Tyson’s corner grow like manhattan

Will buckhead grow like Manhattan

Will Plano grow like manhattan

Although knowing this site, the only suburban districts we talk about are in Canada. If tysons corner were in suburban Toronto there would be 100 threads about it already...

Except Sandton is today THE Johannesburg financial district. Pretty much nothing was left in its CBD.

Those comparisons are more absurd than the Manhattan vs Sandton thing.

I heard Braamfontein is doing ok. Don’t know much about the actual CBD and Hillbrow. Looking forward for the pics.

About Rosebank, it’s more appealing to me than Sandton.

Braam has been great for a while. This intersection is one of my faves: https://goo.gl/maps/1kfiC9s4jJUP9yKZ8

Elsewhere in the CBD things are really beginning to happen. ABSA bank is redoing their campus and converting former vacant office to residential. It's underway now. http://www.engineeringnews.co.za/art...29/rep_id:4136

Jewel City is right next to Maboneng and the towers were up alreadly when I left last may! https://www.atterbury.co.za/portfolio-items/jewel-city/

You can also see some new developments underway on google maps near Maboneng: https://goo.gl/maps/P3A82LyAS8FArjNWA

I really doubt it. If you look at the tallest skyscrapers on the diagrams for the city most date to the 70s and 80s as the nation has been in perpetual economic decline since the 90s.
