I'm sad to learn that Colossus is not only a "Laval" thing.

It looks like someone tried to do a Brutalist building without truly understanding the concept, and failed.

Also, the one posted above by O-tacular looks a lot like SFU, a shame they are tearing it down.

A weirdly out of place building in old St. John's. No one knows how the city ever allowed this to replace an existing heritage structure.

It houses two bars - Erin's Pub, a lower class of a typical Newfoundland pub, and Liquid Ice, a drug-fueled after hours bar where people openly do their lines at their tables and dance until they have to work.

The angled wall that comes right up to the middle of the window is a nice touch. I wonder in what room is located the latch or lever to open the window since it also opens up in the other room. Hopefully those aren't two separate apartments.

No one lives there. That building is all bar.

This is what the top two floors look like inside:

Sorry to repeat the too large photo, but I can't believe they're going to tear that down! Will Brutalism ever find love?

Is no one else going to point out that it is shaped like a concrete turkey?

Too bad about the Calgary building, that's actually pretty palatable as far as brutalism goes.

I don't find anything "odd" or "strange" about these buildings, but whatever.

Nope, since the building was purposely designed and built to represent a Canada Goose!

When the new library is completed it will be one of the most unusual, unexpected buildings in the city. I don't know any buildings with a similar form.

It's stylish and contemporary though, is that it? It's unusual (weird) nonetheless

Too bad about the Calgary board of education building, it looks kinda like a mini Boston City Hall. Could do with some planting out front...
