Exactly why I flew last week. I knew the old convention center was going to be gone very soon. Wanted to capture history! Remember for a short time, there was a SUPER large convention center?

Great job, Model. A thousand thanks! It would have been awesome to have a convention center that large.

Is the old convention center coming down all the way to the blue awning, or just to the river extension?

It's coming down to the part just at the river extension and the other side. It's going to look drastically different when the park is opened.

I understand that the park's size has shrunk to about the size of Travis Park, to be surrounded by residential. I expect this "civic park" to be rented out like crazy.

I kind of wish it was going to be bigger. As long as we get a big open lawn, that's all i care about.

Looks like it will still be a pretty decent size, then.

The area in red is what will be torn down to make way for the Civic Park as well as the mixed use development.

...or AAA Baseball Stadium.

multiple sources with knowledge of the matter said locations include the northwest corner of Hemisfair, at South Alamo and Market streets; the Institute of Texan Cultures; Fox Tech High School; an area south of the Alamodome; and sites near Lone Star and the Pearl.

Ugh why. All that work on planning the Civic Park and now Taylor/Wolff just want to shove a baseball stadium in there? Talk about a bad idea.

YES! I agree, that is a terrible idea. I say the Fox Tech site.

Having the ITC stay in place with new development around it is a really interesting idea, a good developer could create something really interesting with that. Plus I would hate to see the ITC leave its current site, I have a feeling that if it leaves its current location it would probably be stuck off on the edge of UTSA somewhere and never heard from again.
