Affordable Housing

Are site-built homes practical nowadays,rather than getting an architect for your house diagram,etc.?

Do you mean "just make it up as you go" as opposed to planning dimensions, elevations, services/utilities, etc. I would think that there aren't too many permit authorities in North America that would let you build without a set of plans some indication that you can connect to local municipal services.
