Ive been finding alot more buildings for lease and lots for sale in the north downtown area recently.

Hey Echoes....I also like what the work at Egadz is "revealing". It looks like a really nice brick building....as they are being so careful, I do hope the intent is to retain that original facade!

Holy Crap....that was underwhelming. Mr. Napper had very little enthusiasm...haha...and very little insight provided.

Midtown Plaza

I found a column by a Saskatoon commercial realtor with a tiny bit of insight on what is going on with the former Sears location:

Quote:
Considering it hasn’t been made public that H&M is even coming to Saskatoon, I’ll warrant a guess that we might not see them any time soon.

That said, we know the former Sears space at Midtown Plaza is undergoing change, so another H&M might already be in the works.

I have seen site plans which follow through with a prediction I made earlier that Sears will be divided up.

In this concept, the mall extends from the common hallways on each floor.

There are definitely a few options under this plan, in the 15,000- to 30,000-square-foot range, which could accommodate a retailer like H&M.

You warned us but I clicked anyway. That was hardly worth making at all.

I have it on good authority of that being the case.

I heard (on fairly good authority) that Mountain Equipment Coop will be one of the tenants in the Sears location.

Wow. Had no idea there was a nice building under there. It's great to finally get an addition to the warehouse district.

If true....I would have liked to see a stand alone facility for MEC, rather then a mall location, but won't complain too much if this rumour is true. I always thought some combination of the retail bays at The Banks would have been great location for an MEC.

That would be a great addition!

I have to think, with the size of the stores being 15,000 to 30,000, that they will bring H&M, Forever 21, Zara and/or similar retailers in, as well. Those stores all take up big footprints like that.

As long as the tenders came in close to what was budgeted, I would expect to see some action soon.
