According to Reddee Properties, a Second Cup has been secured for the westernmost part of the building: http://reddeeproperties.com/properti...-saskatoon-sk/

Great patio opportunity there with the "pocket park" on that side.

Work on River Quarry is moving along - looks like the exterior is almost complete. Today the construction crews are applying metal furring strips to the one part where they left the original brick, the main staircase. The renderings show some kind of wavy design on it, so maybe some other kind of metal or stone cladding will be applied overtop of the brick.

The front doors were open, so I was able to see inside where they're framing and drywalling interior walls.

April 26 Pictures:

Queen & 8th Ave. office building. For anyone seeing this who is unfamiliar with Saskatoon, City Hospital can be seen in the background.

I can’t recall. Is there a tenant(s) lined up for that one?

Sure seems like they spent a lot of $$$. Hopefully it works out.

Looks like there are geometric panels being installed:

City of Saskatoon wants to decide on downtown arena location by the end of 2019
SaskTel Centre and TCU Place boards will help whittle down long list

Guy Quenneville · CBC News · Posted: May 01, 2019 11:43 AM CT | Last Updated: 42 minutes ago

Saskatoon city planners would like to know by the end of 2019 where they will locate both a new downtown arena and an adjoining entertainment district, according to an update given earlier this week to Saskatoon city councillors.

Councillors decided last November that a new arena — the subject of some debate in recent months — should be located downtown.

Exactly where is the question.

Some observers have derided the decision, made in 1985 via a plebiscite, to locate the now-30-year-old, city-owned SaskTel Centre on the edge of the city.

A previous facility, Saskatoon Arena, was located downtown by the corner of 19th Street and First Avenue, just north of today's Remai Modern Art Museum.

The corporation that runs SaskTel Centre hired a company to make the case for a new arena.

The report from that company stated a preference for the downtown. It also featured a map of potential city-wide areas.

See the map from that report here.

Specific locations were not pitched or recommended — not by name, anyway. The report, released last summer, confirmed that several downtown locations were considered but that they "will be kept confidential."

That map is so useless. A big blob over downtown and a bunch of other locations that make no sense. There is no case for replacing the existing arena unless it is to have it downtown.

Looks like they threw that map together 5 minutes before the presentation.

I’m not sure how long that sign has been there and this is pure speculation, but they must have been planning on BASF to move their Mississauga headquarters into their building - BASF ended up confirming Calgary as their new head office a few weeks ago... WTC downtown must be no more. This is a great opportunity for city council to enact some legislation to force these people to do something with that lot in the downtown. Such a dead zone - rich folk speculation drastically hurting our downtown.

This downtown parking lot could be a contender for Saskatoon's new arena
Parking lot on 22nd Street 'a likely candidate' for discussion
Guy Quenneville · CBC News · Posted: May 02, 2019 6:00 AM CT

Ask people where they think Saskatoon's new downtown arena should go and they get cagey.

Not Alan Wallace.

The former chief planner for the City of Saskatoon says the large parking lot on 22nd Street, across from the Midtown Plaza and TCU Place, ticks off a lot of boxes.

It's close to the First Avenue bus-rapid-transit line that Saskatoon city councillors approved this past Monday.

"Otherwise you have to have a lot of surface parking," Wallace said.

And the lot's proximity to the mall, TCU Place and a convention hall makes it a suitable pillar for a planned entertainment district, Wallace added.

City council's do not have the power to force private landowners to build anything, nor should they. They do have some control over demolition permits, however.

I disagree. Surface parking lots are our downtown’s main epidemic to continued infill. The corner of 2nd and 25th is a great example of this - a decade ago there was buildings there and apparently being a parking lot is more of a revenue opportunity to high net worth individuals using these lots as side revenue than building something that actually benefits downtown.
