Agreed - we need more cookware shops, to replace the things to cook shops.

Yep. Please let's pass on the baby-talk neighborhood marketing shtick names.

Agree. Now if we can just do that up and down Broadway a few more miles where there are drive thru banks and strip malls, we will be set

It seem like investment in transit infrastructure often leads to private investment in nearby areas, so I'm hopeful once the red line reconstruction is wrapping up several years from now and there are nice new stations at Lawrence, Argyle, and Berwyn that this will be the impetus to finally get those awful auto-oriented and/or vacant lots lining Broadway (and Lawrence east of the station) redeveloped.

I love this. And I love that they were able to keep the trees. That’s 15 years growth and a lot of past projects clear cut the lot.

That looks so much better than what it looked like before it's not even funny. I legitimately thought it was one of those new buildings like where they've taken place of a gas station. Much better than before. They are supposed to build 2 new buildings basically across the street - 1 at the little sliver of a lot and then the larger parking lot just north. Anybody know the status of that?

For anyone who doesn't remember what it looked like before (Source: Google Street View):

There's a giant crane up at Ogden and Ashland setting precast for that new build there.

Also the first section of completely rehabbed Cook County Hospital is now un-tarped and looks amazing.

From today 8/12/2019.

Looks like the west main entrance is now open! There is a really nice lounge area to kick back and relax. The south entrance to the Skydeck is now open and they are now starting construction on the north and east entrances of the building.

From the 14th Floor of Traders Parking Garage.

East entrance - Now closed off.

No surprise, but the Tribune is posting that the Treasure Island redevelopment site in Lakeview is facing some NIMBY pushback.

Wanna guess what their well thought out concerns are?

Too tall.
Too dense.
