Still enough single story buildings to offer a lot of contrast.
Walking around the bars in that area will be an interesting feeling - like being at the bottom of a bowl, with the rim of the bowl being towers in every direction.

Rainey will feel that way pretty soon too (if not already).

Here's an FAA filing for a Block 71 tower crane. They must have increased the height because they are way past the point in the construction process where FAA permits are filed. It's 754'.

I'm confused by your statement. Surely you don't mean the overall building height has increased? Just the final height of the crane I would assume.

Would be even cooler if they suddenly raised the overall height of the building by 100 feet lol.

For all the crane people on here. Both cranes will be jumped this weekend. Saturday and Sunday. Level 20 deck construction in progress this coming week. Corewalls rising to level 23 soon.

Cranes will probably be visible from I-35 after this.

The core is already visible from East 12th between Airport and Pleasant Valley as well as closer to the access road at 12th. Here's a pic I took last weekend from Congress and 5th.

Nice. So, going by the elevations, the 22nd floor should be at 245 feet 10 inches. That leaves 296 feet 2 inches to go.

Dropped a pic on IG "walkableaustin" of the north crane going up.

Damn. That glass really pops. This is going to have a massive presence on the skyline, especially when viewed from the West.

I'm a bit surprised at how the final product is turning out. I was under the impression from the renderings that the angled sections were deeper in towards the middle.

Honestly the way I'm describing it makes what I'm trying to say very confusing for readers but I'll have to think of a better way to convey what I mean.

So notice the angled part from the south face. What I'm trying to say is it is shallower than what I expected. I thought it would have been closer to the middle. I still like the building, it's just a little different than what I expected.

Look at post 156 on page 8. You got me thinking that I thought the slant from the south side was half the width also, until I saw this rendering.

I think you were probably transferring the very wide top to the bottom. I thought for a bit too that the angled portion was going to be wider. This tower will look stunning when finished. I love the glass choice.

This is turning out to be one of my favorite projects downtown. I realllly love that core density we're gaining with this! So much has happened West of Congress, it's nice to see something fat and tall right in the center of things
