The Lakehead wouldn't have as many grain elevators if it wasn't for the Wheat Board, but at the same time, we would have more grain elevators operating if it wasn't for the Wheat Board.

Hooray! She could look out the window at a thunderstorm and then tell you how nice and sunny it is based on hours old satellite imagery.

Like a real meteorologist is more accurate. Her odds are as good as any.

I will miss Sylvia. She's so Winnipeg. Just a nice person doing a homey weather forecast without taking it all too seriously. She speaks English with that very slight but distinctive inflection that older Ukrainian/Polish Winnipeggers used to speak with (the Transcona accent, although I don't know if she's from there). I suppose a meteorologist would be nice but it's not as though they would be setting up their own weather station and doing scientific experiments or anything. They would be reading off the same teleprompter.

Funny because she was born in Germany as were her parents, she probably spoke German before she spoke English. Kuzyk is her married name (don't know if she still is)

Urban legend is that Sylvia and Bobby Hull once were an item.

Interesting, might have to revise my theory. She certainly made a splash when she arrived on the local TV scene in the 70s. Quite the knockout, as they would then have said.
